Piazza della Signoria
The Piazza della Signoria feels somewhat like a sculpture park. The Palazzo Vecchio ("old palace") is the political center and city hall of Florence. The statues surrounding it reference to highs and setbacks of Florence's history.

The beautiful Loggia dei Lanzi was named after Cosimo's bodyguards and is home to numerous sculptures, one of which is Cellini's bronze sculpture "Perseus". The elaborate Fonte del Nettuno (Neptune's Fountain) was built to honor the city's victories at sea.
Michelangelo's much admired sculpture "David", which can also be found at the Piazza della Signoria is actually a copy. The original David was moved to the Accademia in 1873.
