A dream that was born in the early high school years and had been fostered for a long time thereafter finally became reality when Tine and Charlotte opened the doors to their own little shop. And so it happened that Copenhagen got its first handmade caramel production in an abandoned bicycle cellar in Jægersborggade on Nørrebro. Prior to the opening the two had spent much time perfecting their work. They spent endless hours in their kitchen with toddlers on the arm, looking for the perfect texture, the perfect taste. Their equipment is a potpourri, which has found its way to them from around the world. The copper pot was found in the United States, the packing machine was specially manufactured in India, and the 100-year-old batch roller was bought from a retired drop cooker in Germany who would hate to see it end its days as scrap.

Today, Karamelleriet skillfully combines nostalgia, contemporary and innovative elements. Visit their shop and their cookeries to see how caramel is made, from the first ingredient to the beautiful cellophane wrapped finished product. Get ready to explore the world of caramels and let yourself be inspired and seduced by the wonders of texture and taste. Life is certain to get a bit sweeter.
