Hotel Rival is located at Mariatorget overlooking the lush green park in the midst of trendy Södermalm. The luxury boutique hotel is privately owned and boasts 99 unique and stylish rooms. The history of the building goes back to 1937 when the Rival cinema was inaugurated and quickly became an establishment for entertainment, housing a cinema, hotel, restaurant, bakery and apartments. In 2002 ABBA singer Benny Andersson and two business partners purchased the building. It was renovated with great attention to detail, creating a unique place that feels like home.

Today the Rival still has a theater seating 735 people, alongside a bar, bistro and cafe. The art-deco inspired cocktail bar with its dark red velvet sofas and mirror glass, dates back to 1937 featuring in parts the original decor. Watson's bar, a popular location for hotel guests and locals alike, offers drinks, food and music beginning at 12:oo every day.

The hotel offers luxurious, stylish rooms in categories ranging from "single" to "suite". Each is just as unique as the rugs, designed by Carouschka Streijffert, decorating the hotel corridors.
