Frederiksberg is a stylish, sophisticated neighborhood with impressive tree-lined boulevards, embassies and parks. It offers great shopping, wonderful food and lots of green. It offers upscale shopping, gourmet hot spots, and many cozy cafes to relax.
Located on the top of Frederiksberg hill lies Frederiksberg palace. The adjacent park with its Chinese Pavillion erected in 1799 as a royal teahouse is a great place to go for sports. You will see many people bringing picnic baskets and relaxing. In the northern part of the park you can visit the Zoo. Another highlight is the Cisterne, located under Frederiksberg Hill in the heart of Søndermarken Park. What used to serve as an underground water reservoir is now Denmark's only dripstone cave and used as a venue for art exhibitions and events.
If you are looking for Parisian flair head to Værnedamsvej, a small, bustling shopping street located between Vesterbro and Frederiksberg. It has a wonderfully relaxed, family friendly atmosphere and is lined with delis, wine bars, specialty shops and cozy cafes. I's fun to meander around disccovering exquisite boutiques, speciality shops and antiquestores.
