Mezzatorre- Luxury with a captivating past
Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa is housed in a structure with a captivating past. Originally built as a watchtower by the Aragonese family in the 16th to 17th century, it was never completed, hence its name "Mezzatorre", which means "Half Tower". The tower was later expanded in the 18th century by the dukes of Rancidello. In the 1930's, it served as a boarding house until Luigi Patalano, a renowned scholar, politician and poet, acquired it and transformed it into a lively cultural centre. Patalano also constructed "La Colombaia", a stunning villa in the same park as Mezzatorre that was formerly owned by Baron Fassini and, later, by film director Luchino Visconti in the 1950s. In 2019, the Pellicano Hotel Group took over management of the property and turned it into an exceptional italian residence with 48 stylish rooms and suites and a wellness oasis for body and soul.
Ischia is the world's oldest spa destination and so it is not unusual that natural thermal waters bubble straight up into the hotel's spa. Ischia native, Chef Giuseppe d'Abundo spoils guests with creative menus that offer subtle interpretations of local dishes and elevate traditional flavors to new heights. With its lush, verdant landscape, Mezzatorre proudly overlooks the sparkling Bay of Naples from a secluded location. One could say it is a place of mesmerizing wonder.
