Mercato di Sant' Ambrogio
Away from the tourist crowds hustling through Florence's streets you will happen across the Mercato di Sant' Ambrogio- a special place to tourists and locals alike.

It is less spectacular than its big brother, the Mercato Centrale, but it is has a more familiar feeling to it. Locals come here to buy fish, meat, pasta, sweets, antipasti, cheese and much more. Fruits and vegetables are sold under large awnings outside of the building. As some merchants pack up and leave around noon time it is a good idea to come well before then.

If the sight of all the delicacies has made you hungry, head to the Trattoria da Rocco. It is located in the market hall and serves traditional italian food. Locals and tourists sit side to side at long tables, chatting away as they enjoy their delicious food.
You can help yourself to the wine, as several fiaschi (bottles of wine) have been placed on each table. The bill is settled at the end of your meal.
